Class Council: Discovering how a democratic society works

What & why?

What & why?

The class council is a moment where all the students from a class come together to bring together the students’ propositions, discuss problems trying to find a solution and celebrate life together, being grateful and recognising others.

Implementing the class council at school is essential if we want students to learn how to discuss and take decisions in a democratic way, while making the link between these civic and social competences and their daily life at school.

The class council will help students to become aware of others, learn about rules to be respected to coexist in harmony, engage individually and collectively.

All in all, a democratic tool for schools that will help to develop students’ autonomy and entrepreneurial spirit, critical thinking, cooperation, solidarity, and the capacity of living together.
